At night all is quiet in my father's two story house except for the occasional barking of a neighbor hood dog growling at a cat in the pursuit of a mouse I lie in my bed and talk to you on the phone you tell me how fucked up your life is and I begin to think about my own I realized that I have never stolen anything even though I may have had an urge of two never had a one night stand never fucked a man I didn't know I guess I’m not at all like you your say your neighborhood is hell and I wouldn’t last one night So I grew up in the suburbs and you lived the ghetto life two worlds not all that different both covered up in deceit so mine looks a little bit more inviting all the lies and truth are hidden beneath sculpted lawns and Mercedes benz I never heard gun shots or police sirens but I did hear angry wives yelling at their children little kids playing outside talking to strangers in green convertivbles offering them a ride down to the basket robbins for something sweet get in with me Im a friend of your daddy's we will go for ice cream but my daddy moved away cheating daddies and single mothers fucking their bosses ' just to get by I've seen the “preps”, cheerleaders, and honor students in their car garages fucking their dealer’s brains out for a small amount of cocaine I saw them suck Dick and lie down on the bed allowing him to fuck them three ways to sundown twelve year old boys smoke weed in the basement while the parents watched game shows and fretted over the ten o clock news thanking God that little Tara was home up in her room doing her homework and not out on the streets with all the other adolescents who did have the guidance of their parents little Tara is discovering that the correctional ink is a stimulant in it's own she can easily get stoned off the supply her parents bought at a grocery store do you know how easy it would be to get more Oh no not our precious little daughter she’s a good girl cause we taught her how to say no I never saw a body bag or blood on the street I did see a man once beat his little boy almost to death no one said anything they just closed their doors and turned up their Televisions it was rude to interfere He was bad and he deserved to be punished I think they were all just to scared naked pictures and porno were found in the basement of our God fearing reverend whom father liked so well he returned to preach the great gospel on Sunday cause no one would tell wives pace the floors waiting for their alcoholic husbands to come home she sits by the phone and prays that he is alright all the mean while he is outside fucking the baby sitter in his wife's car parked outside their house no one will say why Jenny can’t walk or why when her step father is around she clams up, cries and refuses to talk no one knows why the Miller girl sleeps around they all say she is a slut and she has a wild thirst for the sex crazed life everyone knows that it was her step brother who was the first no one says anything in the happy suburban life shhh keep it quiet and try not to be loud ignore it and it will go away because that sort of behavior is simply not allowed
