The End of The Beginning

by Antwan Fields - Aries

when you are born it is the beginning of your life
you've become a member of a society that isn't all that secret, but when you become older, you're reaching the mandatory age of retirement from the society, and when you hit 18, you've reached the end of the beginning.

you are now expected to take care of yourself, to not be around town, to have responsibilty, to not be a dizzy bitch,
to stay employed, to not end up in a hospital, to be with the right people, to not be found with your throat cut in a
dark, dank, dead, drugged up alley.

if you make it out of the end of the beginning you've reached a point, where youre ready to get out of and not go to the joint, to not have to be embarrassed to say that you still live with your mother, to not have your wife(or husband) and mother(or father) in-law fighting all the time

but sometimes you'll want to go back. sometime you'll feel the wind blowing in your face, sometime you'll wish someone was taking care of you, rocking you to sleep, watching over
you.

and sometimes you'll realize that all that they used to say about you is true. you'll realize that you can't go on being a crude dude forever, that you'll have to join civilization, that belching contests are not funny, nor are other contests involving bodily orifices.

and when you see the people you'd rather not be like
staggering around, screaming racial slurs at sam shem
shudder and thank god and say:
"i don't want to be like them."

but for now, enjoy! laugh and have fun
cause you never know just when you will be done
for when they want you to believe you are sinning
will be the end of the beginning
and when you are forlorn and even feeling lovelorn
don't believe the hype, religion does not make you reborn!!!
