Pillow Walk I walked back to yesterday For an hour, while You were sleeping Alone beside me. I played in brush-cut wheatfields, Caught a feral kitten, hugged It gently as it squirmed, Loudly protesting me. I climbed my childhood treehouse. Its boards were rough as bark. I greeted every star That might remember me. There were faces that once loved me, Arms that kept me safe, Although they had to Leave me for eternity. I returned before you noticed I was ever really gone. Tears upon my pillow Were there to welcome me. copyright 2001 Linda Lee Curtis
