As I walk Along

by Dan Kleinman - Cancer

As I walked along

What did people think of me,
As I walked down the street?
Was I just a kid,
That they will never meet?

To some I'm a kid who looked high,
To others I'm a kid they saw when they drove by.
To the baby who looked up at me,
I was a big kid he wanted to be.....

To the old man who said hello,
Did I look like a kid he used to know?
Or what about the lady who just stood and stared,
Was it something I was wearing that made her scared?

Why does it matter what people think of me?
They don't know where I’ve been or where I’ll be.
But still I wonder......
How many more different faces will I see?

Looking for an answer is just wasting time,
But then again,
What am I doing making up this rhyme?

....As I walked on a man checked his watch wondering the time,
I thought about his thoughts, was he thinking of mine?

What is he thinking about?
I thought as I walked away,
Am I insane?
No, its just too deep to explain.
