The Beauty of Life

by Dan Kleinman - Cancer

The Beauty of Life

The trees were green and smelled of pine,
The scene looked sweeter then a glass of wine.
The flowers bloomed in all different shades,
Smelling deeply of different marmalades.
The sun arose from beneath the ever expanding land,
And the light of its rays’ stretched out like a helping hand,
The Golden light lit every nook,
Like a picture from a children's story book.

And behind a tree much taller then I,
I saw a fawn just as it was passing by.
It looked up at me and I saw her face,
of such beauty, such elegance and grace.
I tried not to move but move I did,
So the fawn ran, it ran away and hid.
Its hooves pranced lightly upon the ground,
So lightly not to make a single sound.

So on through the woods I did walk,
Without company there is no reason to talk.
So I listened to the sound of life,
The sound that knows not of strife.
I looked up in to the sky to see
Clouds that were pillows white as can be.

Too perfect this picture was I knew something was not right,
I turned around and saw a creature that was an ugly sight.
Its yellow fangs hung from its mouth as it stood and stared.
It looked at the garden, it looked at me and then it glared.
It wasn't much taller then I but still,
It had a will, a will to kill.

So it began it’s stampede through the trees,
Knocking down everything, me to my knees.
I looked up from the ground,
and saw it look around.
It took a deep breath through its warty nose
And looked down at me, and thats how life goes.
One minute you're walking through a beautiful place,
Next you're staring at death right in the face.
