absences

by Antwan Fields - Aries

i listened to you, but i couldn't see you
recognize why? because you're not there
obscene gestures won't prove a thing
to listen to the black album for a second, then see a screen
i feel the coldness of your so-called heart, to have but a fling, a laugh at my expense, a powerful word, but you are gone

and i seem to see, can't breathe in the chill air
as i search for you, finding nothing i despair
can you fake love? even for a second? play me now
i only asked when, i didn't ask how
oh, youre so gay! you write poetry, you know?
and what? does this mean you can love me and my flow

and my absence means a lot, a sudden whisper, a kiss
a sudden reminder of what i will miss
my friends are not here, what does that mean
and i won't get angry, i won't cause a scene
to not understand is to take lightly my rage
and then i sigh and turn another page
thought you liked me, though nothing is assured
you took me away and pretended i wasn't a lure
you hid from me, knowing i was there you told a fib and fearing me and how i live
you
made me absent and that is something i can never forgive
