Fightin' for who

by Wally - Leo

Bang went his gun
only twelve
shootin' his own country men
led by the drums
march to the beat
fire at the sound of the colonel's voice
brother wounded
father dead
mother buried
sister nursing
he fightin'
country or war
fightin' for who
all look the same
slavery or freedom
united or broke
country or war

Reason for writing:

The reason this poem was written was to remind of us the hororr of war and what happened during the Civil War. Inspiration for this poem came from my grandfather who passed away and he saw what the horrors of war were. So thankyou grandpa!!!
