Today is not as wonderful as yesterday It lacks the purity The nastalgia The friends and family of old It lacks the classic cars and small town people. It lacks everything you wish you had It lacks everything you dream about at night. Today is not as magnificent as tomorrow It lacks the ray of hope The chance at fame and fortune The lover you've never had And the children you have yet to know. It lacks the classic cars you hope to own and the friends you have yet to aquire. Today is a funny thing We long hopelessly for the past And dream aimlessly toward the future. Today is all we will ever know. We will never live in the future nor in the past So perhaps we should simply live in a present state of mind.
