He looked at the girl with the pretty face And thought that she was one to chase as he Shuffled and fingered his tie and wondered How he could catch her eye. He sidled past at a slow gait then said "Wait, didn't I see you the other night At Mark's party where I thought I might ask you out But you disappeared so fast. I even stayed until the last." She turned and gave him a withering look "Did you get that line out of a book?" Then she said "My husband's sitting over there The big guy with the curly hair." Then she smiled at him and he felt such a fool Cos he thought he'd been ever so cool. He walked away and though "That's life" At least he always had his wife. He reached his door and turned the key. The house sounded empty, there was little to see. Just a table and chair and a bed in the bedroom Were the only things there. "Why?" he thought. He'd always kept a roof over their heads And she'd been the one who wanted twin beds.
