Today the silence broke; he returned, acknowledging the time past between. His voice returning had been long anticipated, hoped for, given up for dead. And now it comes, alive and well, steady as if nothing had changed; like things would remain always after death. But they have not and now difference separates us all. I felt little excitement, indifference compared to the flame which would have once arisen within. Now he speaks mere words, the legend turned to dust, the poetry staled. Words are letters, sounds no longer of love and overwhelm. Everything is nothing and nothing is all I have... We have been apart too long my love, and my heart has been exhausted in my grief and waiting. You held time like it was your own within your weathered palm and watched the tide rise over my flailing arms. I besieged my heart to yours but you waited too long and now you have nothing left of the past, left to love, left of me.
Reason for writing:
The anticipated but return of the voice of someone dearly loved.
