in the valley the war rages on, generals of neglect, and soldiers of torture, drop their ammo on me. me against the world, I raise my fists in anger. I cry out to a forgotten god, to a savior for my life. no answer comes though, no relief in my no man's land. I search for the hidden trench, that has forever forsaken me. no weapons are needed, they win with their words, they win with their actions. my ears bleed at their harshness, my body weak from the wounds. a bandage of compassion I need, but only more wounds do I receive. my flag has been raised, I am entangled in defeat. I choose to surrender, the world has now won. but victory, 'tis only in the eye of the beholder. my body and mind have been defeated, but my soul still fights. I stand up strong, and proclaim my victory. the wars may take my life, but they can never take my God. I have found the hidden trench, and protection is mine forever.
