Oh My Darling Cowboy

by Mystyblu - Taurus

Oh my darling cowboy

Tracing my fingertips over
your picture on the cover
of the magazine

I ask myself if we really did meet
would your eyes light up and
your smile deepen
or would you treat me like
the rest of the adoring throng
patient, charming, sweet

I have so much to offer you
I know we will be happy
but I have these strikes against me
imperfect flaws standing
up against your perfection
not as thin as society dictates
not as light as your mama would want

In the middle of the night
I dream that we meet
you smile at me and hold
out your arms
comforting me
telling me "hush, I like you
the way you are"

Oh my darling cowboy
are you brave enough
to defy the world
or are you like all the others
judging by looks first
overlooking kind eyes,
good heart
smile that will light up your heart

I will sit in the shadows
waiting for my moment
to be noticed by you
to have my dreams come true
or dashed into a million pieces

Oh my darling cowboy
which will it be
