Now to when People take for granted the privilege of having a mom When you had too much to carry, she was the extra pair of arms On those early weekend mornings she became your alarm Remember when she was mad and you would stay out of her way How about the time you got a spankin’ and was sent back outside to play The lady who would comfort you during that childhood fear Also gave you the right advice that you didn’t want to hear Through all the fussing which you thought was complaining and When she told you to bring your umbrella incase it starts raining She came to the school show and stayed to the end To when she came outside and embarrassed you in front of your friends From when you even tried to get smart and got popped in the mouth Remember that first love when you had to sit 12inches apart on the couch Times have changed, you moved out on your own But to her you’re never too grown She was your best friend the first couple of months in college She traveled so far to see you and didn’t complain about mileage To when she said she couldn’t take you out because she was low on gas From when you just started walking and stopped you from running to fast From when teachers would call and you said sorry you just missed her She kept peace in the home between you and your brother or sister She taught you respect and made you say hi Remember when you first got bold and answered her “why?” When she gave you a beating and told you it didn’t hurt Woke you up early Sunday morning and made you go to church In my life today she plays a big part Even when she gone she will still live on in my heart.
