wasted youth

by tattooedbeatmessiah - Libra

when i was young, i wore a black leather jacket,
ripped jeans tucked into engineer boots,
4 earrings in each ear, skulls, crosses and feathers,
i kicked trash cans over and tried to act tough.
i smoked non-filters dangling from my lips,
stood around street corners waiting for nothing.
when i got home, i read hemingway and london,
shakespeare and poe,
wrote long poems that no one would see,
for fear they would see the real me.
