a flower arose from a ghetto's concrete

by c h an e l - Virgo

Amidst all the wonders of the world
The ghetto's fit directly in that place
A place held down by oppression
Scars visible through the spray painted murals laid

I walk down the path to find dangers
Druggies, homeless, and just everyday folks
Just trying to get by this last month; it aint easy
Standing in the public aid line; row by row

Not a lot of strangers find their way here
Even though this territory is defined and known
They see my ghetto as a place of trash and disease
They’ve got their opinions and each they’ve sewn

If they saw the faces of the inhabitants and looked in deeper
If they stayed long enough to see the beauty
If you judged us too soon be fore you saw
A flower grew from a ghetto's concrete freely

Reason for writing:

i want to write from a person living in the ghetto's perspective.. its fun
