Shadows of Love’s Exit

Shadowed by what disappeared
A scarred heart quivers in darkness
Ebony disguises all emotions
Thoughts wait- as prisoners within the reaper’s walls
Pain is irrevocable and guaranteed
Fear alights because giving took everything and therefore nothing remains
Doubt impedes every fond memory, mocking youthful ignorance
Mere survival depends on anger
Yet love remains, dwelling in the depths
Cynicism darkens all prospects
And sadness drowns all light
