Death of Our Secret

by Nicole M. - Gemini

Us
Was always a secret
And we both knew
That was the only medium
We
Could exist.

Twenty years my senior
I would have agreed
If it had not been me
That what we had called loved
We just lust with a fancy name.

You enjoyed my young firm body
But you loved my spirit and kindness.
I enjoyed your experienced touch
But I loved thoughtfullness and knowledge.

I was safe with you
Safe in our homes
We knew what we had to give
So that we could take what we needed.

I knew you would die for me
Without even thinking
But I never thought
You would actually do it.

I'm still cursing fate
For making us take a shaded alley
To hide us from the learing public
I wish the man dead
That took you from me
And hate you
For loving me.

At your grave
I do not dare grace with my presence.
Draped in black
I watch your widow with hate
As non-chalantness strides in her face
While tears of his true love
Trickled down my cheeks
And your hand guides mine
Across the piece of you
That will always be with me.
