One night you serenaded me With the temptation of song lyrics And vibrant praise- You colored my night with simile I found you harbored in words Anchored to impeding thoughts of weakness Yet you swam to me Strumming melancholy chords We swooned-intoxicated by connotation And we stayed-clinging to context I know your heart Yet I stand in contemplation
Reason for writing:
A very good friend of mine came to me one difficult night and turned it around for me. He revealed a side of himself that I knew existed, but I had never seen. The result was this poem.
