I have learned, perhaps a little too late, That one must exercise caution With affection, And that a man who will spend his nights in your bed Will not necessarily hold you in his heart. I have learned, perhaps a little too late, That one must be careful When assigning angel wings to humans, Because when the illusion is shattered The reality is all the more disturbing. I have learned, perhaps a little too late, That one must exercise caution With one's heart, And that a man who will share his passion with you Will not necessarily give you respect. I have learned, perhaps a little too late, That one must be careful When giving in to desire, Because when the euphoria is ended The truth is all the more unpleasant.
