Life can bring such great things when you look at it more optimistically rather than notice the bad things. Sometimes when you ski, you get this feeling. Actually it’s more like a surge of greatness. A time that everything is perfect as you rocket down the mountain at speeds that no one can beat. No one can come close to you because you are a strong gust of the wind. You ride up the chairlift for the first time in the winter season. You’re feeling so strong, yet somewhat nervous. You get off and feel the wind blow into your face. There is always this great rush when you first start to get the feel of the snow again. You find yourself rocketing down the mountain and speeds that are so fantastic, you would wish that you could ski forever. As you feel your turns, you slip on an edge and you start tumbling down the slope. You are feeling as if your fall is never ending as you are wishing for it to stop. You can try so hard but the ice just keeps you sliding at a high speed. As you hit the bottom, you start laughing. This is what skiing is all about. The chances that you can take are infinite and enjoyable no matter what the experience is. You are now moving down the mountain again, getting away from your past and moving into the future. What comes next? As you feel yourself stop at the end of the slope, there is always this feeling of accomplishment that you wish you could always feel no matter where you are. Live you life to the fullest and never stop believing in yourself. Don’t turn around and look at the past, and don’t turn around at all. Always look forward into what comes next because the past is already behind you. Remember all of the good things in life, but forget all of the bad. Don’t notice the trash on the ground. Just notice what is right in life and you can go from there, but remember not to catch an edge. Kevin Friduss University of Denver
