Dead Man's Lament

by Antwan Fields - Aries

i wish i had spent more tine with my kids instead of my lovers
i wish i had come back when i was asked to
i wish i had fought harder for that raise that they gave instead to you
i wish i had not been more concerned about my property than my wife
more concerned about my money than my own life
with a rueful smile i look away
wishing on that fateful day
i hadn't jumped out of that car
and chased the jacker into a bar
and around the wall and around the corner
who put my head back together? the coroner
and on my love of my life and the pain that was sent
i focus on this eternal lament.

Reason for writing:

    you'll understand.
