A Man Called Uncle Ben

by Nascimento - Cancer

Injustice he peels
Wounds he heals,
His life is a mission
He has no need of possession.

He gives nothing but charity
And wants nothing more than your prosperity,
He will accept nothing but your love
In hopes you turn to him above.

The children he teaches
Their lives he reaches,
So much he cares
Everything of his is theirs.

He’s on a crusade for freedom
He will not allow himself to condemn,
None he will blame
He sees everyone the same.

He has lived a life of deposition
And has only the happiest disposition,
He has found lives built upon lies
He can’t reach them all no matter how he tries.

He wishes for little in his life
Just that he can love his wife,
And for your salvation
He doesn’t lust for elation.

He’s trying to save his town
Crying out, “Riverside will not go down!”
His neighbors see his pain
His calls will not be in vain.

He follows only the almighty
Never stopping no matter the calamity,
His cause is hard and just
So with the Lord is all his trust.

He’s found meaning and shares it with lives that are lacking
It is as if he is bound to destroy evil from teeming,
He’s the uneducated man that to the intelligent brings an awakening
He’s the hungry man who feeds the starving.
