Looking Down

by Steve Nichols - Capricorn

As I look down
The rocks get closer.
They seem to be
Laughing.

I look up and I
See everything I love
Getting further.
And laughing.

As I fall Memories
Fall faster by me.
Never to see those again.
How could this be?

The rocks are closer and
Their hands are waiting.
I do not know what I did
To deserve this mess.

I know nothing at all
Other than the rocks.
Are getting closer
And everything else
Is so far.

I finally hit rock bottom
And it seemed so long
All for this?
It all went wrong.

So I look around
Up and down.
I start to crawl
To my feet. But
Yet fall again.

I crawl a little bit
Up onto my feet
Climbing the hill
That made the fall so
Long.

Why did I climb back up?
For it all to go wrong.
I guess I just yearn for the fall.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem about my first love
and the pain that it caused. I'm sure many will agree
on my outlook on this subject....enjoy!!
