Trappings

by Elisa Hinson - Libra

They come
And go
Leaving little
Pieces
Of themselves
Along the way
So far, no one
Has lasted longer
Than three days
They litter my
Room with roses
And candy
Cigarettes and
Breath mints
And leave with
My best CD
Fight Club
And whatever piece
Of my heart
I chose to
Surrender
When they're gone
I go back
To sleeping
On the floor
And drinking myself
To sleep
