Red light

by Matthias L. - Capricorn

It's hot and humid
Light so dim
In such a place
I've never been before

Light and soothing music
Dim my mind with warmth
In such a way
I've never lived before

And then approaches
An announcement of importance
Little time is left
In a wide open space

Dim the lights, then wonder
Watch the crimson sun
As long as there's money
Don't fear the rain

If there is worry, I am sure
There is a certain list
With pills to ease the pain
And cash turns into cure

The speaker's voice
Still wavers faintly
I know he's right
I'm sure he is

He smiles at me
I'm tucked-in well
He waves his hand
Proud to be a part

A face appears
No need for thinking
I'm dancing, I'm alright
Much closer to myself

Now I'm surrounded
As I'm dreaming
I fear they're friends
I'm sinking

One more drink
Not to be myself tonight
I fear it's too late
I'm in the midst of nowhere

Friends and faces
Say hello and throw a smile
I think I'll fake one too
And inside me face the truth

In a world so shallow
I can't drown in
Amongst the masses
I'm alone
