Saying Goodbye

by Queren Leah Burnett - Gemini

The tears roll gently down my face
As we say our last "Goodbye!"
Standing together locked in embrace
Under this big gray sky.
I know I will not get over you,
Well it will take a long time
I will cherish the precious moments we shared
Remembering you were mine.
I will miss not being able to hug and kiss you,
Holding you tightly in my arms.
Not saying, "I love you!"
With my eyes and with my charms.
I will miss lying next to you telling you things
Getting lost in your eyes,
However, you will forever stay in my heart,
You are definitely, "One of a kind".

Reason for writing:

I was married to my first love for five years. At the age of 23, after eight years together, I ended it because we grew very far apart and began having more and more bad times than good. Through it all, I still wanted to be with him, because I still loved him.
