love letter

there are many nights that have gone
just like tonight, early into the morning
when i read your letter
even though it's two years old
it's emotions are still fresh
and the pain in the words
the sad feeling, all very real.
i was never able to respond
but now, after all that's happened
i can tell you what i know;
your reason for being here
was for me to find you
who opened the world of love
so that i can tell you
the sincere words of the heart
so we can be together
where i can tell you
i want to take care of you
and tell you i would be happy
to grow old with you
that, i'm not with you
for any other reason, except my heart
to tell you and assure you,
when we hold hands
when we embrace each other
when we kiss, when we laugh
when we walk in silence
share our dreams
when we think of each other
and when you burrow your head
deep into my neck
and i place my chin
on top of your head
for all the simple things
that we do,
i like you for everything
and love you for you
