The Key
By: Ann M. Hampton
The space between the two of us
As we lie here in bed,
The words I want to say,
But they continue to remain in my head.
I fear that if I tell you,
You will simply go away,
And that you won't be here tomorrow
Like you are today.
He moved out without a word,
And I was left laying here stirring in bed.
I just wonder if what I was thinking in my head
Is something I should, or should not, have said.
I've read in books
On how to deal
But to apply the knowledge I've learned, I can't,
For the pain is still farmore too real.
So lying next to me,
Please don't turn your back take your arms and around me
please,
And when I' comfortable that you won't leave,
I may just share some facts.
The facts may be the words
You long to hear from me,
you may just unlock my heart,
For you may be the key.
