After graduation After the endless speeches The hugs The tears The friendships hardened by 4 years And then some After endless sagas of how they'll never ever leave And how their going to be there forever After the hats are thrown into the air And the cheers that are risen up afterwards Are long gone And no longer heard After the last person leaves to party And the last chair is taken from the field After the endless letters of recommendation The final letter of congratulations 'You got in' After the shopping for new dorm adornments The night before everyone leaves The tears and final goodbyes Til winter break After it's all said and done.... The friendships that you thought would always stay Lose their meaning Drift apart The friends who said they'd be there Lose touch Never speak Break away And the friends you thought you'd never see Suddenly appear.
