Bones and Kings

by Lady - Taurus

Books and thrones and swords and bones,
here a dead King lies.
The festering castle,
slips down the rotting green hillside.
The borough wraiths are calling you,
in long forgotten tongues.
To tell you tails of gallantry,
and of long forgotten sons.

The pages unfurl and the trumpets wail,
as they begin their torrid tale.
A tale of a King, both noble and true,
morality his kingdom, strong as sinew.
Of the promise that held him tight in its grasp,
a venomous snake, a slithering asp.
But to his belief he steadfastly held,
and even his fair Queen could not break that spell.

It's a story of woe and a story of pain,
a Lady's sad song with a lilting refrain.
A tale of jealousy by a Queen,
that murdered the love of her fair King.
Of the heart she broke the love denied,
a tale where broken spirits reside.
She let her longing rule her mind,
her heart took hold of its twisted design.

The jealousy lied and she believed,
that one day he would leave.
He would break the chains that duty bound,
and come let their heart's desire be found.
But now she knows that jealousy lied,
and that true love CAN be denied.
So this lament is her sad song,
about the love she forever wronged.

And thus ends the lament of this Lady fair,
the Lady with the musical hair.
But weep no tears for her lost reserve,
for surely she got what she deserved!
