If love is a battlefield, Then I burned my draft card and ran up to Canada If love is a #1 pop song, Then I lost my hearing and started to read more If love is a little puppy dog, Then I'm violently allergic and own some fish If love is a five course meal, Then I’m not really hungry right now, I’ll stick to the appetizers If love is emotional progression, Then I'm a Neanderthal If love is something everyone is supposed to understand, Then my instructional pamphlet got lost in the mail If love is something, I feel nothing Do I know love? Well only if love is an empty room where the lights flicker, the floor creaks, and the next door neighbors won't turn down the television I sit and wait for the door to open and for her to reappear and make things right again, but instead I'm greeted by catalogs and an extra-large sausage and olive, stuffed crust I ponder my mistakes and get distracted by my failures If love is a battlefield, Then I've been shot down, made a bloody mess, and left for the vultures' afternoon delight And as the moss covers my body and my bones slowly disintegrate, I think to myself, " Is this love? Well, it was sure worth the wait. "Birth sign: Pisces
