silver lining

by Matthias L. - Capricorn

It's always now
That there are no choices left
And hesitation is carefully nourishing fear
I face the mirror and whisper
Inquiring with an intuitiveness that can't really be here
In such a small confined place, small but with a taste of freedom
So unlike the scenery that's just starting to take place
On the stage in my head
And while I'm mesmerized by the everchanging play
Of not being able to do anything
My words bounce off from the silvery charm
That everyone has chased through the centuries
And with the illusion of beauty and truth
They get caught inside the mystery of silence
In a safe haven
And start spreading
d o u b t
Sliding down into any opening that is exposed
Unwantingly or by the desire to test how fragile one's life can be
They slip through the reaches of flesh and bone and crawl even deeper
Doing their tedious work, without attention
To reach the point where their efforts
are enough to shift the balance from a wavering ideal of
preserving the physical to a dominance of the darker shades
In their triumphant return, they now feed of each other
To grow even more, ignoring the subconscious shouting
of fear and hope and no other opinions
Until body and mind become one, liquid as in the beginning
Trickling down on a silver line, true to deception
As charming as everything else not worth the hassle of fighting for
