Wasted Wishes

by Michael Taylor - Taurus

Some wish for a love,
one endless smile.
oe eternal day.
one lasting mile.
but, when the days are all over
and the sun finally sets
you the love has ended
and your dreams are filled with regrets
should have done this,
should have done that.
sorry. but, in love
there is no road map.
made a wrong turn
couldn't get back on track
finally, you get so far
and there's no turning back.
you swallow your pride,
and hold back the tears
pick up your broken heart
and watch as the future nears
behold the power
this healing that takes place
and soon you'll realize
those wishes were a waste...
