Take Five

by lola - Sagittarius

This is a new day. If everydays a beginning, then where do I start?
So many things I could do, but i can't find whats in my heart.
I can exercise both mind and body or can get to the housework.
I could read at the bookstore, but if I'm not producing, I feel like a jerk.
That's the trouble with America, as my African friends are quick to point out.
Work, Work, Work, Stress and Things, thats what America's all about.
I love America, don't get me wrong, but has it really come to this?
When overwhelmed people wear their To Do list as a badge of honor and no one sees all that they miss?
Like boredom. Boredom can be so revealing because it makes you stop and think.
Silence is so healing when your not constantly distracted, as is laughter and silly things
Take a moment to see the forest for the trees and just be lazy one day and I think you'll see
The world doesn't end because you didn't run an errand or make it to the gym.
It won't end because you didn't earn enough to to keep up with your neighbors.
It wont ever end over such pettiness but the world thrives when we feel alive.
So, when life is placing too many demands on you, do as the French and Africans do, and just take five.
