I went to a party, mom

by unknown? - Pisces

I went to a party, mom, I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, mom, so I had a Sprite instead.
I felt real proud inside, mom, just like you said I would.
Even though all my friends, mom, told me that I should.
I know I did the right thing, mom, I know you’re always right.
The party was finally ending, mom, as the kids drove out of sight.
As I got inside my car, mom, I knew I’d get home in one piece.
Cuz the way you make me feel, mom, so responsible and sweet.
I started to drive away, mom, as I pulled into the road.
The other guy didn’t see me, mom, he hit me like a load.
As I lie hear on the pavement, mom, I hear the policemen say,
The other guy was drunk, mom, now I’m the one to pay.
I’m lying here and dying, mom, I wish you’d get here soon.
How could this have happened, mom? My life just burst like a balloon.
There’s blood all around me, mom, and most of it is mine.
I hear the paramedics say that I will die in a short time.
He didn’t watch where he was going, mom, he was probably at the same party as I,
The only really big difference though, mom, is that he will live and I will die.
Why do people drink, mom? It ruins people’s lives.
I’m feeling real sharp pains now, mom, like a thousand burning knives.
The guy that hit me, mom, is walking, it’s not fair!
I’m lying here and dying, mom, and all he can do is stare.
Tell my brothers not to cry, mom, tell my sisters to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, mom, please put “Daddy’s Girl” on my grave.
Someone should have told him, mom, not to drink and drive.
If someone had taken the time, mom, I might still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, mom, I'm getting really scared,
Please don't cry for me, mom, because when i needed you you were there.
I have one last question, mom, before I say goodbye,
I didn't even drink, mom, so why do I have to die?
This is finally the end, mom, I wish I could look you in the eye,
To say these final words to you: I love you and goodbye.
