No Longer Wanting

You thought I'd feel
   (A little less empty)
At the sight of you sitting there
You thought I'd be
   (So relieved)
To look into your eyes once again
You thought I'd sigh
   (As though a weight were being lifted from off me)
When you glanced over to me
You thought I'd say what you wanted to hear
   (Without you, so much has changed)
But instead I said nothing
I spoke only through my eyes
The words that you never thought you'd hear
Words of freedom
Release from your grasp
And sheer happiness
From no longer being yours to hold.
