Almost Paradise

by Chris Sheffler - Aries

Streaks of rose paint pictures on the sky
as shades of white shift across the canvas
above the serene ocean that rolls with the wind
reflecting a beauty not known to most
while the sun sinks into it’s depths
tranquillity as only heaven could be

I stand alone of this ledge overlooking it all
awestricken by the power that I do not possess
and by splendor that lies inside of me
how could I ask for more than this that I call home
sitting alone as the gales of wind blow though my hair
my emerald eyes stare out over the unbounded ocean

Minutes turn into hours and hours into years
it is only now that I have found peace
yet if I could share it with the one I hold dear
for this place was built for you with my two hands
and with my heart that would give you anything
for anything is worth giving up to be with you

Everywhere I go, your the only thing on my mind,
the only thing in my heart, the only thing in my soul
happiness is seeing your shining face each day
a day does not go by where you are not held dear
my dreams of yesterday are finally coming true
and I want to live them out with only you
