Last Words

by Elisa Hinson - Aquarius

Such a simple word
 GOODBYE
Even now
I have to breathe a space
Between each letter

 G O O D B Y E

And if it helps

I will be the bitch
I will be the drunk
I will be what all

The others were
Before

Is that enough?

When did forever get
So lost...

When did I get so afraid
To let you go

What are you to me?

A voice in the night

I know you are nothing more
Than eyes
And mouth
And hands

so full of words
And once hope

But now...
You are immune to all
Reason
Devoid of all you promised

And we are reduced to this

WORDS

And paper
And screen

And tomorrow...
