How They Loved a Thin Man's Dress

by Adam Gaucher - Sagittarius

I sit in public. There are
children here looking over my shoulder. I choose
not to corrupt their developing minds for
they are yet too innocent, and it would be
unfair to them. In one instance I
must remain afraid for if I were to
guide them, this world would deny them
of their existence.

There is a
brittle sheet of plastic we are told
to walk on. The sheet grows more
and more rigid by each and every
footstep taken. But, it is the fragile ones
themselves who must break though and
fall. Though once this occurs one has
nothing to grasp on to, except a dream,
and the hope for a pair of wings.
