Inside My Mind

by Christina Leigh Peterman - Leo

I can't control the world
That lives inside my mind.
The ruler is depression
And he can be unkind.
The punishment is severe
An escape I cannot find.
I used to know joy and love
But now I've left it all behind.

I put my soul into your hands
And you've mistreated and abused me.
Today I come before you
And bow on bended knee.
I'm begging for a reason
And pleading to be free.
You laugh and mock my pain
Saying together we shall always be.

Reason for writing:

I was in a horrible relationship that I wanted out of. It took a lot of courage and the help and support of my family, but I was able to leave. I am now single and raising my infant daughter in a safe and loving environment.
