To death, if death should haunt me.

by zara - Aries

To Death,
if Death should haunt me,
long before I'm due to die,
if icy fingers taunt me,
and, melancholy, make me cry,
if life and love desert me,
before I've time to feel,
every heartbreak there to hurt me,
and every scar to heal,
if life should slip away from me,
before I've tasted every joy,
and my last breath should leave me,
before life's grandness I employ,
if I am due before my time,
my life not one to save,
at least I'll have my memory,
to take with me to my grave.

Reason for writing:

probably reading too much Bronte sisters.
