A secret wish

by zara - Aries

In bare-faced youth,
the tidal springs,
of life are barely warm,
the path of love and happiness,
have hardly found their form,
and misery and sorrow,
have yet their mark to make,
instead a youthful thirst for life,
that an ocean cannot slake;
enthusiasm, the capacity,
to withstand any force,
the ability to follow,
an unmitigated course,
and every new discovery,
always better than the last,
so much future there to live for,
when creating first a past.
To smaller hands, and smaller eyes,
the world must seem a place,
so large and unpredictable,
yet every problem there they face,
can only end with smiles,
and hope and laughter, too,
a little of that childish faith,
in everything they do.
If we could turn the hands of time,
reclaim a child's imagination,
perhaps we could see the world again,
in keen anticipation,
of pirates sailing on the seas,
and fairies in the garden,
our lives could be a better place,
and we wouldn't have to harden,
our hearts toward each other,
and as we snuggled into bed,
perhaps our dreams could be our world,
and the world a dream, instead.

Reason for writing:

sometimes maybe kids do have all the answers?
