Someone Elses' Poetry

by PunkyThespian - Libra

someone else's poetry...

I don’t know how long you were hidden there,
                                     But I’m scared…
                                   To think about it.
That so much wisdom and so much care
                                 Had been locked away…
Bolted from the light of day.
I blew the dust from off your cover,
And took you softly, like a lover,
                                    Where no other…
                                     Has ever been.
                               Taken deep inside my mind,
Where your words moved freely, line by line.
                                     The rhyme…
                                      So sweet;
Completed every wish I ever had,
With words that made my sad mind glad.
Words that someone else had discarded
                                      As trivial…
                                    Or unnecessary,
I joined with mine, their wisdom sharing.

                                  Even now I wonder…
                              Was it done with purpose,
                                Or some awful blunder,
That your wealth was left for me to plunder?
But my soul is now deep in your debt,
                                     And I regret…
                                That we have never met,
For I never thought I’d feel so free,
                           After reading someone else’s poetry.
