THE GENTLE LAMB
Feeling weary from dire tax
By a lake I sat reclined.
Laying my head down to relax
I sought a pleasant thought to find.
When, lo there did appear to me
No matter how absurd
The God who I have longed to see
The King of Kings...The Word!
His presence, great in magnitude-
His eyes, reflecting all my past-
Made me feel so base, so nude...
My deeds apparent to the last.
But on His face a smile shown clear-
His arms to me extended-
With calm embrace and shedded tear
That day my heart He mended.
I know not why He came to me
Unworthy as I am
But my heart is whole! I've been set free!
By the touch...of The Gentle Lamb.
