Hey girl... could you please hold me..
... for just a little while?
Well, I sure do miss... your gentle kiss...
... and the way you awake me each mornin'...
... with your smile.
And when I leave our home in the mornin'...
... and, God, throughout the day,
All I can think about... is your gentle kiss, no doubt...
... that five o'clock bell seems so far away.
I try to keep myself occupied...
... without thinking too much of you.
But every moment I hear... your sweet voice in my ear...
... and that's when I get the I sure do miss you blues!
I'm missing you baby...
... I'm missing you badly, you see.
Don't know what I'm gonna do...
... sure do miss you, that's true...
... I can't wait for that five o'clock bell to ring.
'Cause all I know... is when I get home...
... my baby will be awaitin' for me.
I sure miss her gentle touch...
...sure am missing her very much...
... I sure got the I sure do miss you blues!
A pain inside... tells me noon has arrived...
... and I scurry down to that mess hall.
Lunchtime's come and gone... but inside I still feel wrong..
... my appetite hasn't been appeased at all.
I looked at that clock to see... it was a quarter to three..
... I only had two more hours to work.
Then I'd hop on that bus...
...that would take me to reunite us...
... only then will God stop all this pain and hurt.
What I really need right now...is a telephone call somehow..
... do I have to explain from who?
'Cause all I can think about...
...is my baby, there's no doubt...
... and that's when I get the I sure do miss you blues.
The time has arrived... my impatience runs high...
... as I make my way through that five o'clock rush.
It won't be long... before I'm in my baby's arms...
...was all that was on my mind as I hopped on that bus.
"Bus driver," I said, "If you'll take me to my home instead-
... there'll be a tip in it of a twenty for you.
Could you please take this bus... on this very short cut...
... and help me stop these I sure do miss you blues?"
"A twenty you say... 'taint that far out of my way!"...
... he grinned as he shook my hand to seal the deal.
And it wasn't before long...I was back in my baby's arms...
... no longer the I sure do miss you blues do I feel!
Because...
... I'm kissing you baby...
... I'm kissing you madly, you see.
I know exactly what to do...
...I'm kissing you madly, thats true...
... that five o'clock bell is just an old memory.
'Cause now I know... I'm in our home...
... where my baby's been awaitin' for me.
And as I feel her gentle touch...
...no longer do I miss her so much...
It sure is the cure for the I sure do miss you blues!
And as I feel her gentle touch...
...no longer do I miss her so much...
It sure is the cure for the I sure do miss you blues!
