She Had to Keep Him

by Ms. TKay - Cancer

She was doing the do
At first, nobody knew
She did what she had to do to keep him in her life
If she had to, she'd stab YOU with a knife
She did what she could
Cause if she couldn't have him, nobody would
Good, evil or bad
He's all she had
She had to keep him

Nine months later & here comes a new life
And now she's practically begging to be his wife
She'll do whatever it takes
Cause in her eyes, he's got everything that makes
The perfect man
And she'll be the perfect woman if she can
But she can't
Cause she was still doing the do
But sticking close by his side like crazy glue
Too late to back out now
She had to keep him

Four children later and out on the street
Nowhere to live, nowhere to go and nothing to eat
Trying to keep up with the one who makes her heart beat
Staking out night and day in the scorching heat
Totally neglecting her children's well-being
Keeping tabs on this man is keeping her from seeing
That her children are suffering and need her more
Her motherly instincts just flew out the car door
She's too lovesick to even care for herself
She put everyone's needs except his on the curb to the left
Because she's living in a fantasy
Refusing to face reality:
On the street
In the scorching heat
Nowhere to go
And nothing to eat
Everything around her is null, void and dim
All she really care about is him
She had to keep him

He finally arrived: Child #5
Hardships and problems but they still survived
Not the best of times but they managed to stay alive
He hit rock bottom and steadily taking a dive
But no matter what, in her life he would stay
No way in hell she's gonna let him go astray
Lord knows that will be the day
Hell will freeze over in a major way
She finally got her chance to say "I do"
And now everyone knew she did the do
Even he
But she did what she had to do
But now he's too blinded by the mellow haze
To even care or see
And unknown to she
He needed her more now than she could ever know
Spending every penny he obtain on a mighty blow
So his eyes can keep that glow
You reap what you sow
She had to keep him
Now she got him for good!

Reason for writing:

I watched a lady who lived in my old neighborhood put her man before her children and herself. No matter what happened, she had to keep this man in her life. She wouldn't let anybody have this man and would fight tooth and nail for him. She'd kill anybody, including his family members over him. He got hooked on drugs and she didn't care. She married him anyway. He's still a heroine addict. They're still married. They have 5 sons.
