The land of broken dreams The place where nothing is really as it seems The place that everyone is telling you about But it's a place that's full of misfortune and doubt The people, the places The smiles, the faces The city, the jobs The hypocrites, the snobs The so-called friends who got your back The trust and honesty that they lack It's the land of broken dreams Where nothing is as it seems It's a place where you have to count on yourself Because you can count on no one else It's the place of all places of which you dream But it's nothing close to peaches and cream And though nothing ever really is as it seems You feel there is still something to redeem Your friends, your foes Your shoes, your clothes The wrong, the right The struggle, the fight The twist of fate will make you hate You live and learn on these roads that turn But this is the place of the dreams in which you yearn But no one even cares, no one is concerned The place where nothing is even like your dreams And everything in your life no longer gleams This is the place you'll find nothing to be as it seems This is the land of broken dreams
Reason for writing:
I'm sure everyone's been there, done that and sent a post card. I went to a city I knew nothing about because everyone I asked about it said it was ALL THAT. My experience was nothing like LIKE THAT. I thank God for the experience. It taught me a few things: 1)To believe in only 2 people: God and Me!!! 2) If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. 3) Don't expect your dreams to fall in your lap on a silver platter.
