P.O.W

P.O.W

My eyes seek out movement in the frozen wood,
Paths lay open left or right but not both.
I searched for danger rooted like a tree I stood,
I mentally ticked off safe areas; ambush-less sites as far as I could.
To an almost fort like embankment deep within the ferny growth,
Proceeding foreword my tread was fair slipping on puddles of rain.
Or potholes maybe some animals lair,
Though no creature’s movement disturbed me there I was careful all the same.
As I made it to the embankment I lay,
A rope bridge lay across a canyon, sky was black.
A guard stood near the bridge, would he stay?
This was the only way out, one route, one way!
Ninja like I moved foreword a thrust, a twist knife removed from his back,
Escape route open I breath a sigh, I walk over my face-lined tense.
I was free; I flushed, starting to cry,
Imprisonment I remember well memories float agonizingly by.
Determination had got me through this was the big difference.
