Underground

by PunkyThespian - Libra

People have asked me where I’ve been,
And did I find any answers
From the world or within
Myself…?
The answer is yes,
The answer is no,
The answer is maybe,
But I think I don’t know.
See…
I left the rest of you here,
To keep people reading,
Without worry,
               Without fear,
To keep their hearts bleeding,
As I hid myself deep
And went underground…
To learn.

Now I’m back,
To share what I’ve found
From the earth’s inmost abyss
And its secrets, profound.
Secrets I sifted from
Mound after mound,
             Pile after pile;
A million dingy dead rocks,
Barely worthwhile,
And so silent in death
They were almost hostile.

Rocks have secrets too…
But it takes some time to find them.
See, the trick to learn their language
Is to slowly move behind them.
There was a method to my madness,
This gravel-like sadness,
(And my Golgi apparatus)
Led me to see
                A pebbly debris,
That directed me to
Their stony trail…
Once I found this I knew I’d prevail
For I uncovered details
That have never been seen
By the eyes of man
And might never again
Unless I expand…

My tale will come in time my friends,
For my journey transcends
Almost everything I’ve ever done.
Therefore;
I’m forced to contend
That as I slowly ascend
From these tiring depths of Hell…
I don’t feel quite well,
For I’m left with a smell
Very much like the brimstone
I’ve left behind.
I hope you don’t mind,
But I need to unwind,
To relax for a bit,
In my new frame of mind.

Oh the things I’ve seen,
So obscenely pristine!

I promise I’ll share them,
Just let me prepare them…
To gently repair them,
As I place them in verse
That will let you compare them
To things here above,
And sights that confound;
Yes…
I’ve given my word,
To that,
              I am bound…
So soon you will learn
Of my travels;

              Underground.
