Red Rose "I wish you would buy me Just ONE long-stemmed rose." "You KNOW I like red ones!" "Are you listening, Joe?" "I've been feeling IGNORED."... "Must you ALWAYS paint?"... "I know you have talent But INCOME, it aint!" "The bills are past due and I'm SICK of this place!" "You're not listening to me!" "Christ!...Pick up the pace!" "The plumbing needs fixing,... The roof is STILL leaking." "Hello!",..I am SPEAKING! "Jeez, shower...you're reeking!"... These words spilled so often From my putrid lips And as I recall them My guilty heart rips... For one day Joe mentioned A pain in his chest. But I wasn't listening... Might you guess the rest? I went to his parlor... To nag him some more And there he was laying Dead cold on the floor. I looked toward his canvas... A true "work of art" What I saw pierced me... Right straight through the heart... A BEAUTIFUL picture... With the house of our dreams! On a mountain-side stood Amidst soft-flowing streams... Not far from the house Was what I've now sewn... My long-stemmed red rose... Atop his own tomb-stone... ShionBirth sign: Pisces
